A summary of this book:

David Pawson takes hold of a subject that is possibly in today's church society, something that can be explosively divisive. He unpacks scripture with scholarly care, grace, courtesy and humility. In the politically correct world that we live in today, to say to women that leadership within the church is male, can cause an onslaught of ferocious anger from a militant feminist movement. So, this book unpacks the distinction between men and women within the church in regard to leadership and tackles some difficult scriptures - David Pawson simply does an excellent job of exegesis in regard to these so-called difficult texts, brings clarity and understanding, which is incredibly helpful to the church. Elizabeth Elliot wrote the foreword (it's really written), and here is what she said - "Here is a simple, sane, serious treatment of the subject by a man who loves God, respects women, and takes the inspiration of scripture and the integrity of the apostles for granted. He tells us that his subject is a not clerical issue, nor is it hierarchical, situational, historical, or experimental; it is biblical. With that, I agree wholeheartedly!"

What did you like about the book?

I loved the sensitive yet clear biblical manner in which David Pawson dealt with this topic. He unpacked scripture accurately, and didn't show a bias to a denominational view, but only to the inerrant truth of the word of God.

What did you not like about this book?

Nothing

Who would benefit most from reading this book?

Everyone in the church, but most of all, elders, deacons, comm leaders - this is a current hot potato in the church, dividing churches across the world, causing anger and even hatred in churches. We need to have a very clear understanding of this subject so that we can answer from an unwavering position, as we face an onslaught from an angry politically correct world.
