A summary of this book:

In this paper, Prof Habermas delves into some of the key questions and false claims surrounding the historicity of Jesus and whether the historical Jesus aligns with the Jesus of the Christian faith as documented in the Bible. This paper serves as a condensed version (around 100 pages) of his book, "The Historical Jesus: Ancient Evidence for the Life of Christ," making it an easy, yet highly convincing and faith-building read for those not looking for the detailed information contained in his book (which I highly recommend). Prof Habermas covers topics such as: What are the opinions of mainstream scholarship regarding the conclusions of the Jesus Seminar? Is it plausible to view Jesus as divine, and did the resurrection of Jesus actually occur? Did Jesus ever perceive himself to be divine, and did he identify himself as the Son of Man or the Son of God? Is there a strong historical foundation for believing that Jesus rose from the dead? Twelve historical facts that establish a solid foundation for believing that Jesus lived, claimed to be divine, died on a cross, and rose from the dead. One of the most contentious events in Jesus' life - his appearance to his disciples after his death.

What did you like about the book?

I found it incredibly good and faith building, and loved the level of information he gives. He references many historians and secular authors writing around the time the gospels and Paul's letters were written which build a strong supportive case. I also like how he dealt with specifically claims by skeptics, why they don't hold up against the historical facts and evidence, and how to answer them.

What did you not like about this book?

A person not used to the historical, detail and fact based approach, it can come across quite dry; but the very fact that the facts are supporting our much loved bible, makes it alive, exciting and extremely interesting for me

Who would benefit most from reading this book?

Anyone with questions around the authenticity of the bible or Jesus.

Anyone wanting to skill themselves up on how to answer questions and defend their belief in Jesus and the bible.
