It's the story of a young woman who leaves the safety of England in the 1966, and travels by ship to Hong Kong, on the belief that God has called to the mission field. She left when she was 22 years old, and began to minister to heroin, & opium addicts, to prostitutes, to pimps, to triad members (violent gangsters). She unpacks in this book the stories & testimonies of a period from 1966 to 1978 of how God used her & still uses her to impact the most hopeless of society, the most lost, the most broken, some of the most hardened of people in Hong Kong. She shares how the Holy Spirit supernaturally led her and empowered her to establish a mission work that was so effective that it began to transform parts of society within Hong Kong. In the book she doesn't glamourize what she was faced with, but she describes very honestly and candidly of how Jesus moved in dramatic & miraculous ways enabling her to establish such an effective ministry.
It's a book that encourages, that builds faith, that helps us remember that we serve a God of the miraculous, of the impossible, a faithful God, a prayer answering God. it's also a book that helps you get your perspective back, to keep the main thing the main thing. It's also a book that brings home the truth of the desperate need to walk as closely as possible to the Holy Spirit always in everything.
Nothing - I loved it all. I was sad when it was finished. She is still there today in Hong Kong, still a missionary, still getting people saved, healed, set free, made whole, returned to society - She is 78 going on 79.
